Q: What is allowed to vote in the "Firehouse Primary?"

A: Any registered voter.

Q: Do I have to be a registered Republican to vote?

A: No. Virginia does not have party registration, but other requirements to participate may you be to sign a statement of intent to support Republican nominees if the local Party requires it.
 

Q: Can I be denied a ballot?
A: You may be denied a ballot if you refuse to sign the participation statement or do not meet the requirements outlined in the Party rules.

 

Q: How many candidates can I vote for?
A: Up to three. The top three candidates who earn 50% +1 of the vote will win and be the nominees in November.

Q: Will I be ranking candidates or just selecting candidates?

A: The plan adopted references a majority requirement, but the exact method of counting ballots has not been clearly outlined. It is likely you used a Ranked Choice system to rank candidates from most to least preffered.

Know conservative think-tanks are also opposed to it. Regardless, the Lynchburg GOP has decided to use it in 2026.

A: The only way to vote in the Firehouse Primary for someone in this case is to attend in person.

A: Seven hours (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) on a single day (May 30).

A: No. Voting ends at 3:00 p.m.

Q: Can I vote a different day?
