Lynchburg city council elections

On Tuesday, November 9th, City Council voted 5-2 to pursue a Charter Amendment in Richmond that changes election cycles for City Council elections. I voted against it, and here is why.

  • It would intentionally adopt cycles with dramatically lower turnout.

  • Arguments in favor had logical fallacies.

  • Preferences of incumbents are prioritized over the will of voters.

What happens now?

The proposal is sent to Richmond for General Assembly consideration. If you stand with me in opposition to this Charter Amendment, you can petition the Lynchburg delegation below and share your thoughts.

Your message will be communicated directly to the delegation.
